Now, Ukrainian criminals are being deported from various European countries. In the latest such move, Portuguese authorities are removing and deporting Ukrainians and Belarusians from Portuguese territory.
Here is another bit of Ukrainian news that was not reported or else under-reported in the West. According to Polish intelligence, Kiev and London tried and failed to hijack a Russian MiG-31 fighter armed with a Kinzhal hypersonic missile:
According to reports from the Russian Security Service (FSB), the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense tried to recruit a Russian pilot by promising him three million dollars. Kyiv offered one of the pilots Western citizenship and encouraged the co-pilot to kill or tranquilize the chief pilot in the event of a hijacking, making it easier to hijack the plane and divert it.
A Russian pilot has revealed that Ukrainian and British agents tried to recruit him to hijack a MiG-31 aircraft armed with a Kinzhal hypersonic missile and shoot it down over a NATO base in Romania, which would have led to a direct war between Russia and the alliance.
The pilot revealed that the Ukrainian recruiter assured him that “everything would go like clockwork.”
According to him, the Ukrainian intelligence officer claimed that “this is not the first operation of this type” and that he had successfully organized similar actions several times to gain confidence in him.
The pilot added that he was promised that his parents would be taken to Europe, where they would have “a comfortable life and top-notch medical care.”
The FSB reports that the operation was planned in cooperation with British intelligence, and its aim was to fly a MiG-31 fighter jet from Russia to Ukraine and then direct it towards the Romanian base in Constanța – the largest NATO air base in Southeastern Europe.
According to the plan, the plane was to be shot down over Romanian territory by an air defense system, thus simulating a “Russian attack on a NATO base,” which would provoke a war between Russia and the Alliance.
The flight was scheduled for the night of November 9-10, 2024, but this scenario completely collapsed when Russian forces carried out a Kinzhal missile attack on key Ukrainian intelligence facilities – the electronic espionage center in Brovary and the Starokostiantyniv military airport, where the hijacked plane was originally supposed to land.
After the attack, the plan failed, and the Russian pilot who discovered the whole affair informed security forces about the recruitment attempt.
The Ukrainian authorities have not responded to these serious accusations from Moscow.
As military analyst and historian of the PVO forces, Yuri Knutov notes, there is a much deeper intention behind this whole story: the desire of Western services to acquire the technology contained in the MiG-31 aircraft and its Kinzhal missile.
History has another dimension: propaganda. Knutov believes the defecting pilots will be used in a media campaign to talk about “authoritarian rule” and “the freedom that liberated them.” Of course, there will be no mention of the promised money. History will be presented as an ideological gesture by “free people.”
That’s why Russian intelligence services consider the foiling of this operation one of the greatest successes of the country’s counterintelligence in recent times. Had the plan succeeded, the world would likely have faced a new crisis similar to that of the Cold War. And perhaps this is precisely what terrifies both sides—how thin the line is between attempted espionage and the initiation of new global tensions.
